Stacy Furgal focuses her efforts on education and outreach related to challenges facing New York fisheries with an emphasis on Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. Important ongoing issues that Stacy addresses include: 1) non-native species invasions and their impacts, 2) the responses of fisheries to changing environmental, economic and social factors, 3) harmful algal blooms, and 4) the instability of prey fish populations and their influence on sport fish and anglers. She is also aware that social aspects of fisheries are dynamic, and recruiting and retaining new anglers to fisheries is important. As such, Stacy would like to take the time to listen to anglers and understand what they feel is necessary to maintain and enhance fisheries in the future.
