                While
marinas and recreational boating are relatively minor contributors
to water pollution problems, this does not mean they do not have
                the potential to cause problems.
This is especially true when large numbers of boats congregate
in small embayments or poorly flushed waterways.
Although the overall contribution of marinas and boating
activity to water pollution may be small, there are a number of
good reasons why marina operators and others involved with the
marine industry should be concerned with pollution prevention.
