May 2008 Sharing of Information Conference Dowling College May 28th, 2008

Members of several of our monitoring groups were able to meet in May of 2008 to present their data and compare notes on the year's experiences. Each student present and all of our volunteers received a South Shore Estuary "Preserve the Reserve" Stewardship Award.

The Great APES present their data at Dowling College Sharing Conference in May of 2008.

Leo Massenkeil and Kerishma Panigrahi representing Sayville High School presented their data on Green's Creek. Rachel Haberstroh presented data from the Great South Bay Buddies and her own award winning research.

The groups listened attentively to each presentation.

After a lunch of pizza and soda we visited the coral research laboratories escorted by Dr. John Tanacredi, Chairperson of the Department of Earth and Marine Sciences.

Here the group visited the Horseshoe crab research laboratory, again escorted by Dr. John Tanacredi, Chairperson of the Department of Earth and Marine Sciences.

Students posed for pictures with their new arthropod friends (horseshoe crabs). Students were supervised by Maria Brown, Kelly Sepe, Jean Infantino and Liz Moore.
