Tentative schedule:
8 am – 9 am Registration check-in, continental breakfast, visit student posters and exhibitors
9 am – 9:15 am Welcome remarks
9:15 am – 10:15 am Keynote speaker: Jesse Ausubel, Senior Research Associate at Rockefeller University, will discuss his work on the Census of Marine Life
10:15 am – 10:40 am Annual business meeting and awards ceremony
10:45 am - 11:40 Session A (3 concurrent workshops)
11:45 am – 12:40 pm Session B (3 concurrent workshops)
1 pm – 2 pm Lunch (included with registration)
Menu includes assorted sandwiches and salads, cookies and beverages
2:30 pm – 5:15 pm Field trips
5:30 pm – 6:30 pm Keynote speaker: Dr. Peter Rona, Professor of Marine Geology and Geophysics, Institute of Marine and Coastal Sciences, Rutgers State University of NJ, will share his experiences exploring the Hudson Canyon
7 pm – 8 pm Lobster dinner
Menu includes steamed lobster, corn on the cob, Caesar salad, potatoes, grilled boneless chicken breast, pasta primavera, NY cheese cake, and beverages.
8 pm – 9 pm Auction and comedic entertainment
Auction items may include gift certificates to a variety of restaurants and stores, fossils, museum memberships, books and CDs, and more! There will be a 50/50 auction, a silent auction, and a live auction. All proceeds go to supporting NYSMEA activities and preserving our oceans.
