Program Aide II - I FISH NY Program-08222

Job Description
Assist the New York Sea Grant (NYSG) Recreational Fisheries Specialists to develop, implement, promote, and evaluate the I FISH NY program located in Long Island City and Stony Brook (two positions). These positions will coordinate activities for the in-school programs, community groups, organized youth groups and public clinics. In conjunction with the Recreational Fisheries Specialists, create new and modify existing lesson plans for in-school programs using Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop software programs. Create outreach materials for public events. Assist with editing and distribution of triennial newsletter. Conceptualize, organize, create and edit documents for I FISH NY website. Coordinate with NYS DEC’s public relations department. Identify advertising venues, including environmental newsletters, I FISH NY newsletters, and web postings. Position requires coordination with other members of the I FISH NY team.

Job Qualifications
Associates degree in natural resources, environmental education or related field with one year experience required. Knowledge of Excel, Access, Word, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop preferred. Requires excellent organizational skills, self-motivation, initiative, strong communication (both written and verbal), and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate with a broad range of people in the public arena with tact and diplomacy a must. Excellent customer service skills. Experience that demonstrates sound judgment, creativity and problem-solving skills. Must be able to work independently while supporting the efforts of an overall team. Proficient computer skills including word processing, email, spreadsheets and use of the Internet. Willingness to learn new software as needed. Willingness to perform repetitive tasks such as data entry required. Must be accurate, methodical, well spoken, and have strong proofreading and editing skills. Able to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Valid Driver's License, an ability to transport educational material and fishing equipment, and work occasional evenings and weekends required. Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
