NY's Great Lakes: About This Site
New York’s Great Lakes region consists of Lake Ontario and Lake Erie,
their tributaries and the St. Lawrence and Niagara Rivers. New York’s
Great Lakes support local and regional economies, provide recreation and
hold high ecological importance.
The New York’s Great Lakes clearinghouse will serve as a clearinghouse
of information about the Great Lakes region of New York State and act as
a portal through which users can access specific resources related to
grant funding, research projects, and the priorities of New York’s Great
Lakes Action Agenda. Information is divided into categories on the
website, which can be found in the sub-navigation box on the
left-handside of the site. Each page is also divided into sections for a more user-friendly approach. This site has a “Contact Us” feature that allows users to submit comments and questions to the
NYS Department of Environmental Conservation’s Great Lakes Watershed
Coordinators, and to subscribe to the NY Great Lakes Basin listserv for
news, funding opportunity notices, and events.
This Web site is designed for audiences of all backgrounds, from
environmental researchers and agency personnel to teachers and students.
The New York’s Great Lakes clearinghouse was developed by New York Sea
Grant for the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation with funding
from the Environmental Protection Fund, in support of the Ocean and
Great Lakes Ecosystem Conservation Act of 2006.
