Seafood Science & Technology

Whether you prefer clams for chowder or on the half-shell, or your favorite fin fish baked or smoked, seafood processing contributes almost $7.8 billion annually to the New York State economy via products that are largely consumed within the state. However, changing federal and state regulations threaten the economic viability of the industry.  By focusing research, industry and public education efforts on seafood safety, New York Sea Grant is making critical contributions to the state by helping seafood processors effectively and profitably market safe, high quality seafood products to knowledgeable consumers.
